Vehicle Battery Protector - Low Voltage Power Disconnect - InPower VCM-12-1-60M
InPower's VCM-12 LVD Vehicle Battery Protector is a highly efficient solid state 20 amp power switch in a very small package. It connects between the vehicle battery and the auxiliary loads. Its microprocessor controller contains a battery voltage monitor that will operate the power switch based on preset voltages. As battery voltage is an indicator of the battery's state of charge the power switch can be turned off, disconnecting the auxiliary loads, when the battery reaches a critically low level. When the engine is started and the battery voltage increases the loads are reconnected. In addition to the low voltage shut off, it will shut off the loads after a time delay.

| In Depth | Vehicle Battery Protector - Low Voltage Power Disconnect - InPower VCM-12-1-60MInstallation is simple. Just locate the +12 volt power wire between the vehicle's battery and the load(s) you wish to power. Then cut the wire and connect the battery wire to the VCM-12 BAT+ terminal. Then connect the load wire to the VCM-12 LOAD terminal. Last, connect the GND terminal to a good chassis ground. The VCM-12 LVD is particularly suited for installing in a vehicle power point circuit. Just cut the power point's two-conductor wire and connect the battery side two wires to the VCM-12 LVD's BAT terminal and GND terminal. Then connect the load side two wires to the VCM-12 LVD's LOAD and GND terminals. The VCM-12 Low Voltage Disconnect (LVD) provides a four-wire terminal layout that allows easy installation in a vehicle•s two-wire power point circuit. The two-conductor power conductor can simply be cut and wired to the LVD module (two wires in and two wires out). The LVD module contains a microprocessor and voltage sensing circuit that operates a solid state 20 amp disconnect switch. The output of the disconnect switch powers the loads. The VCM-12 LVD continuously monitors the battery voltage at its power input terminal. When the voltage is above 13.25 volts the disconnect switch will turn on to supply up to 20 amps to the load. If the voltage drops below the low voltage set point of 12.8 volts a timer is started. If the voltage remains below 12.8 volts for the duration of the time period the disconnect switch is turned off. Anytime the voltage drops below 11.8 volts the disconnect switch is immediately turned off. When the voltage rises to above 13.25 volts the disconnect switch will automatically be turned back on. |
